Greetings from River City. You can pick up your FREE student summer meals at Newburgh Free Library on Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the lobby. For all children under 18 years old. Thanks goes to the Newburgh Enlarged City School District for sponsoring this program.
The Friends of Newburgh Library is sponsoring a $600 scholarship in honor of Regina Angelo the longest serving employee in the history of Newburgh Free Library. Students who are high school graduates residing within the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, including home-schoolers and parochial school graduates, who are just beginning their college education, may submit a written response on how the Newburgh Free Library has contributed to and enhanced their life in some way.
All applications along with written responses are to be sent to Friends of Newburgh Library, 124 Grand Street, Newburgh New York 12550 or via e-mail to newburghlibraryfriends@gmail.com Applications must be received no later than Friday, July 26, 2024. All responses will be reviewed, and a winner will be chosen by Friends, on August 2, 2024. For more information contact newburgh libraryfriends@gmail.com.
Calling all poets and writers! Meeting on August 10, and September 7 from 1 - 2:30 p.m. join the Hudson River Poets for poetry readings of your own work or a favorite poem. Registration is not required.

For Your Calendar: Runners of all ages, Bishop Dunn Memorial School’s Sixth Annual Cupcake 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, September 15. The event, featuring a race for adults and children 10 and under, at Mount Saint Mary College, 330 Powell Avenue. Refreshments and cupcakes will be provided by local businesses. Proceeds from the event for the Bishop Dunn school.
Adult Race: Run or walk through the Mount campus, overlooking the Hudson Valley with river views. The race route starts on the track around the baseball field and continues through the campus.
The adult race starts at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $25 for 5K pre-registrants and pre-registration ends Sept. 12. Same day registration is $30 in cash or check made payable to Bishop Dunn Memorial School.
Mini Cupcake Race: Is a quarter mile fun run for children age 10 and under. The race starts at 9 a.m. and the cost is $10. Pre-registration ends Sept. 12. Please bring cash if registering the day of the event.
